ABEOKUTA - The embattled commissioner for Environment in Ogun state, Hon. Abiodun Abudu-Balogun has been asked by the state government to resign from his portfolio.
Hon. Abudu-Balogun was suspended by the State Government following his alleged sexual harassment of a 16-year-old girl, BÃ rakat Melojueku.
THE ENCOUNTER NEWS reliably gathered that Abudu-Balogun was grilled by the State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun after the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
It would be recalled that the 16-year-old Barakat Melojuekun had in a viral video alleged that Abudu-Balogun sexually harassed her by forcefully touching her breasts, caressing her and saying some incantations with an attempt to place his hand on her head.
Though, Abudu-Balogun debunked the allegations, describing it as political blackmail, but Governor Dapo Abiodun suspended him to allow for a thorough police investigation.
But latest findings by THE ENCOUNTER NEWS revealed that, depsite the spirited efforts by traditional rulers and some bigwigs politicians in the state to save the embattled Abudu-Balogun, Governor Abiodun has told the suspended Commissioner to tender his resignation letter.
An impeccable source from office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi hinted that, a letter instructing Hon. Abudu-Balogun to resign was given to him last week.
Attempt to confirm the letter from the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Mr. Kunle Somorin proved futile as many phone calls and text message sent to him was unanswered.
