Ekiti Poll: LP Denies Collapsing Structure With APC

ABEOKUTA - Ahead of the Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State, Labour Party has denied media reports that it has collapsed its structure with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A national daily had reported that, some former members of Labour Party (LP) on Wednesday collapsed the state structure of LP into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) with a promised to work assiduously for the victory of Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO)  of APC in the June 18, 2022 Governorship poll.

Leading former state officials and members of the party into APC in Ado-Ekiti, Engr. Banji Omotoso said the party were attracted by the pedigree, quality and personality of the standard flag-bearer.

But LP’s Acting National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi in a press release issued in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Thursday said the party was amused by the claim of APC for parading dismissed former Ekiti Labour Party Chairman as Labour Party structure.

Arabambi said the ex-chairman who was removed and dismissed for leading few others who were equally implicated and dismissed ex-members for stealing party funds were falsely and insincerely presented to the public as the LP structure.

He explained that, Barr. Okunade Odunayo remains the party's Chairman in Ekiti state while Comrade Roland Olugbenga Daramola and Alh. Ibrahim Onile are the party's governorship and deputy governorship candidates for the Saturday's governorship poll.

He advised members of the public to disregard what he described as wishful claims and false conjure by the APC.

“Setting the records straight, Bar Okunade Odunayo is the only known State Chairman in EKITI while Comrade Roland Olugbenga Daramola and Alh Ibrahim Onile remains our Governorship and Deputy Governorship Candidates for the June 18th Ekiti Governorship Election.

“This is one public lie that can not fly. This claim is false, untrue and the public is advised to completely ignore the fake report. The Labour Party is amused by APC in publicly doing a dance of delusion, shame and open deceit parading a dismissed former  Ekiti State LP Chairman as the LP structure.

“This ex - Chairman who was removed and dismissed for leading few other equally implicated and dismissed ex - members in the stealing of Party funds are falsely and insincerely being presented to the public as the LP structure.

“Labour Party has since being seen, noted and widely acknowledged as a party with a capital zero tolerance for all forms and kinds of dishonesty and negative attitudes. LP is a party that stands distinct and far removed from a Party like the APC which deliberately talent - hunt thieves in the political space.

“Labour Party is run on the fine principles of democracy and has no tolerance for thieves and embezzled. A very negative trait that has become the main culture and the natural to APC.

“Labour Party is one single Party much publicly identified with transparency. It is practically very impossible for LP to accommodate political thieves in its fold . APC by its antecedence, of course remains a great home for the political thieves.

“Labour Party here strongly offers the public an especially good choice ahead of the 2023 election, the choice of voting right for Labour Party that is very committed to leading Nigeria towards a New Nigeria of a new standard and a new morality, all Nigerians desire and deserve.

“That the dishonest Banji Omotisho got suspended and finally dismissed by the LP National Convention in 2018 in Minna , Niger State, for fraudulent activities must be recognized as a potentially fitting and qualified for recruitment by the APC that is forever unrelentingly busy talent - hunting the highly dubious and amoral Politicians in the political space. That Banji Omotosho who did remain drifting and floating aimlessly without political direction since 2018 has found a home in APC is not surprising because birds of the same feathers do flock together.

“It is a widely acknowledged truth and a firmly upheld conviction confirmed by the pointing barometer of public opinion that the APC is a party that is very comfortable and recklessly happy with its sad image of being seen and known as a fully compromised political Party led by leaders who were manipulated into National offices brandishing fraud, insurgency, armed robbery, Executive rascality, political divisiveness with kidnapping and insurgency - promotion as loud testimonials.”
